Community honour for 'vicar in van'

LAY evangelist and Essex Fire Service ‘vicar in a van' Stephen Rice, from West Mersea, was presented with a Fire Service community award at Layer Marney Tower, near Colchester in July.

Stephen came to the Service through an innovative partnership with Chelmsford diocese
and has been out and about spreading the home fire safety message and conducting home fire safety visits in and around the county.

He is using the church's established network to assist the Service in reaching the most
vulnerable people in the community. The Fire Service described Stephen as "an amazing additionthe team".
