Working with other faiths

Chelmsford Diocese Inter-Faith Issues Group

The Inter-Faith Issues Group provides a forum for theological reflection and monitoring of inter-faith issues. Members include representatives of the Barking, Bradwell and Colchester episcopal areas which are all involved in inter-faith work locally.

Recent activities have included the inaugural meeting of Colchester Three Faith Friends hosted by the Mayor.  This forum and the Mid Essex Inter-Faith Forum continue to grow in strength and organise numerous events.

Links with the East London Three Faiths Form are also strong and new inter-faith initiatives are under way in Barking and Dagenham and in Southend.

Inter-faith work with young people

Encounter Youth Exchange Programme

This programme for young Jews, Christians and Muslims is an initiative between the Diocese of Chelmsford and the Maronite Diocese of Haifa and the Holy Land. The programme brings together young 16 to 19 year olds from East London and the Holy Land for a 10 day residential encounter each summer. It helps to break down barriers and encourage learning between the different cultural, ethnic and faith groups.
