Conflict Management
Each year the dioceses of the eastern region (Chelmsford, Ely, Norwich, Peterborough, St Albans and St Edmundsbury and Ipswich) hold a residential conference exploring the issue of conflict management. This has been well recieved by those who find themselves in situations of conflict in their parochial ministry.
The AIMS for this workshop:
By the end of this course we hope you will—
• Understand the conflicts you are experiencing in a different way
• Have tools to help you analyse and deal with conflict especially in the context of the church
• See that conflict can be an opportunity for transformation
The course is in two parts, each residential. The workshops are designed to enable the participant to discover new skills in managing conflict through directed individual and group work complimented by theoretical input and plenary discussions. It is necessary that participants attend both workshops to gain the full benefits of the programme. The worship is an integral part of the programme and based around the theme of conflict. It is helpful if participants identify a current conflict situation in their life, professional or personal, but one they are willing to share with others in confidence.
The workshop is are open to clergy and lay and is ecumenical.
“Changing the way you view a conflict can alter how you handle it.”
