Incumbency Skills
Twice each year the dioceses of the eastern region (Chelmsford, Ely, Norwich, Peterborough, St Albans and St Edmundsbury and Ipswich) holds a residential conference for those who have been appointed to incumbency or priest in charge posts in the previous year. In most dioceses this is part of a programme of CME for those new to post.
The aim of the conference is to help anyone new to post, but perhaps especially those in their first posts, to work on some of the practical skills required to lead a parish. Topics covered include:
- Mission
- PCC & APCM
- Worship
- ‘Help, I’m a Church lawyer!’
- Faculties
- PCC Finance, and
- Working with lay people in the parish
- Miscellaneous issues
Click on the links above to find resources mentioned at the conference.
The conference is led by those with experience of continuing ministerial education and people with particular expertise from participating dioceses to enrich and facilitate our work together.
The event offers an opportunity for mutual support through informal networking and fellowship and shared prayer and worship.
