Rapping out message

Waltham Forest Youth For Christ supported a summer programme with members of TRUCE, a multi-racial team of young Americans, former gang members and drug dealers who are now committed Christians.

TRUCE shared with groups in Waltham Forest and Hackney their success in getting young people living in New York City's most notorious areas, including The Bronx, to put down their guns, throw away their drugs and pursue a more positive lifestyle.

The team helped to bring respect and a sense of hope and self worth to the young people and demonstrated their dance, singing and rapping skills, gave motivational talks, visited schools to lead assemblies, and had one-to-one sessions with at risk people.
