Church promotes Christian marriage

A new magazine called Essex Brideis being launched this month with a special foreword from the Bishop of Chelmsford.

The Rt Revd John Gladwin explains in the foreword how churches want to make weddings very enjoyable, and special, occasions.

“Marriage is special because it is a gift from God,” the bishop writes. “It is also special because in the marriage ceremony in church, a woman and a man make a public declaration of lifelong commitment to love each other, come what may, before God. The Bible compares married love with the love Jesus has for his followers.

In our marriages we can try to follow his model by loving our partner in a committed way, putting their needs before our own.

“Marriage will give your relationship a new stability in which both of you can flourish and grow. Marriage offers the right place for our fulfilment as adults. It also provides a stable and secure environment for bringing up children.”

The Barking area team will have a stand at the UK wedding show at ExCel international exhibition and conference centre in Docklands (nearest DLR stop – Custom House) on Saturday and Sunday, January 27-28. Visit www.theukweddingshows.co.uk.
