Drop in at the bistro church to think, meet, chat and eat!

Felsted residents are developing a taste for a ‘bistro church’.

Vicar Colin Taylor has invited local men to join him for an informal evening in the restaurant of their local every month. And supper in the relaxed atmosphere of The Swan at Felsted, an award-winning gastro pub, is served with an engaging topic of conversation.

South African-born Colin kicked off ‘Mondays@The Swan’with the stories behind the dawning of democracy in South Africa. Other topics have included: whether there is room for a moral dialogue in the doctor-patient relationship with a local doctor as guest speaker; men’s emotional, spiritual and physical needs with a business coach and writer; and the spiritual journey of a professional rugby player. Aconversation with a farming consultant about the environment and the countryside will appear on the menu next month.

The evenings are providing a good opportunity for social networking and spiritual questioning.

People drop in to enjoy a two-course meal with wine and coffee, all for £15 a head.

Colin is now planning to introduce social evenings at The Swan for couples and singles in their twenties and thirties to engage with issues of contemporary culture.
