More brides choose church weddings

MORE couples are getting married in church, says a survey of 2,000 couples for Brides magazine. The survey found that 49 per cent of the couples polled chose a religious ceremony, three per cent more than the previous year. And the Church of England is doing more to fly the flag for church weddings and blessings. Clergy and staff from Barking and Chelmsford recently hosted a stand at the UK wedding show at the ExCel exhibition centre in Docklands.

Gill Nichol, the Barking area’s communications adviser who organised the church's contribution said, “Our stand attracted a lot of interest from couples and their families. People were surprised but very pleased to find us at the show. They were happy to ask us questions, they said they were impressed with our literature, and they definitely enjoyed eating the 'just married' love hearts we gave away!”
