An invitation to pray for the Armed Forces on November 8
Many sailors, soldiers and airmen are fighting in conflicts far away from home. Others are under considerable pressure closer to hand and many families are facing loss and uncertainty. They all need support.
Essex is an important location for the Army with Colchester Garrison. This is home to 3,500 troops and is one of the four largest garrisons in the country. It is the headquarters of the 16th Air Assault Brigade, the Army’s premier rapid-reaction force. The brigade was the first force sent into Iraq and Afghanistan.
A Day of Prayer for the Armed Forces will be held on Thursday November 8 when a special service will take place at The Guards’ Chapel in Wellington Barracks at Birdcage Walk in London.
This public service, from 1.00pm to 1.45pm, will be followed by refreshments. There will then be an informal time, open to all, for background briefings, worship and prayer from 2.30pm until 5.00pm, with a short break at 3.30pm.
Military personnel will be wearing working dress and civilians are requested to dress appropriately. More details are available at www.militarychristians.org.uk. RSVP Guards’ Chapel on 020 7414 3229
