ST Edward's C of E School and Sixth Form College in Romford has achieved pleasing results at both GCSE and A level for this year.
The head teacher of St Edward's, Revd Alan Perry, said: "I am very pleased with our results.
"The GCSE results, based on the fact that they were for 209 students, were the best results in the school's history."
The full results were as follows:
A-LEVEL: 97.38 per cent pass rate. Average point score per student 769.1; Average point score per entry 197.55.
QCA score A=270; B=240; C=210; D=180; E=150.
Religious Studies at AS 26 candidates 100 per cent pass rate, nine students achieved A grades.
Religious Studies at A2 14 candidates 98.4 per cent pass rate, 10 students achieved A-C grades.
GCSE: 5+ A*-C (including English and Maths) 76.56 per cent 5+ A*-C 79.90 per cent.
Religious Studies full Course 96.9 per cent A*-C; short course (whole Year group) 76 per cent A*-C.
Nationally, the number of students taking Religious Education at GCSE has risen by 1.8 per cent compareed to 2008. This marks the 11th annual rise in entrants for the subject.
The number of students taking Religious Studies A-level has also risen, with an increase of 4.7 per cent over 2008.
Church educationalists point to the subject's popularity as a vivid sign that young people are interested in exploring religious and spiritual perspectives of the world, and in studying the moral and cultural frameworks people share across diverse globalised societies.
