Billericay town crier welcomes new Archdeacon in style

The town crier of Billericay, Mr Jim Shrubb, was one of hundreds of well-wishers who crowded into Chelmsford Cathedral on 30 September to support the installation of Billericay team rector, Revd Elwin Cockett, as Archdeacon of West Ham.

The Service was led by the Bishop of Chelmsford, Rt Revd John Gladwin, in Chelmsford Cathedral. As archdeacon, Elwin will be responsible for supporting 200 parishes in the Barking Episcopal area and for assisting the Bishop of Barking, Rt Revd David Hawkins.

Mr Cockett will continue in his role as Chaplain of West Ham United FC.
