Bishop of Chelmsford announces new Canons
The Bishop of Chelmsford, Rt Revd John Gladwin, has announced three new Non-Residentiary Canons of Chelmsford Cathedral and one new Lay Canon.
The new Canons are:
- The Very Revd Philip Need, Dean of Bocking, Braintree
- The Revd Stephen Carter, Vicar of St Leonard’s, Lexden, Colchetser
- The Revd Dr Graham Blyth, Vicar of St John the Baptist, Danbury
- Mr Robert Berry, Former Chair of the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF)
Bishop John has said: “I am delighted that Graham Blyth, Stephen Carter, and Philip Need have accepted my invitation to become Non-Residentiary Canons at our Cathedral. It is with similar delight that I am able to announce that Robert Berry, who has just retired as Chair of the DBF, has accepted a Lay Canonry.
“In a whole variety of ways all of them have served the Church with commitment, great skill and deep faith.”
They will be installed at a special service in the Cathedral on November 4h at 6 pm.
