Bishop of Chelmsford: 'Archbishop has my full confidence'
Following the recent lecture given by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr
Rowan Williams, many people have made their own comments, some of which have
been most extreme and will not help in taking further this important debate. It
is certain that the potent mixture of religion and politics can bring up some
very difficult issues, which do need to be addressed in the multicultural world
in which we all live.
In his address, the Archbishop was seeking to get us all to face some of these difficult and challenging issues. The Bishop of Chelmsford, Rt Revd John Gladwin, has said, “When the dust from the immediate controversy has settled, I expect we will all have to put our minds to the questions he has raised.
“The Archbishop not only has my deep personal affection, but also my full confidence as he exercises his leadership in the Church of England and the wider Anglican Communion.”
