The Bishop of Chelmsford and Chelmsford Cathedral

The new Bishop of Chelmsford is Rt Revd Stephen Cottrell. His nomination was announced on 22 March 2010.

The Bishop's Election was confirmed on 6 October 2010 at St Mary-le-Bow, Cheapside. Click here to read more.

Bishop Stephen paid Homage to Her Majesty The Queen on 11 November, and was Installed in Chelmsford Cathedral on 27 November 2010.

Chelmsford Cathedral

Chelmsford CathedralThe first church on the site of the present Cathedral was founded 800 years ago. This church was rebuilt in the 15th and early 16th centuries. It became a Cathedral in 1914. As well as being a place of worship, the Cathedral is a popular venue for concerts, lectures, civic events, school prize-giving and university graduation ceremonies.
