Bishop's Lambeth essay says unity does not result in informality

A NEW book which has been hitting the headlines includes a significant essay from the Bishop
of Chelmsford, Rt Revd John Gladwin.

‘A Fallible Church: Lambeth Essays' contains contributions from leading Anglicans of different backgrounds and traditions brought together by Kenneth Stevenson.

As Anglicans from around the world prepare for this summer's Lambeth Conference, the authors explain how God continues to use the Anglican communion, fallible like all of humanity, for the
furtherance of his kingdom.

Drawing on his experience of visiting Chelmsford's partnerdioceses in Kenya in 2006, Bishop John finds that human experience is rooted in diverse cultures.

There is much to be learnt from our witness in different contexts.

The love of God in Jesus Christ brings different people together. But unity does not result in uniformity. The differences need to be respected before Anglicans can fully engage with one another.
