THE Bishops of Chelmsford and Barking joined the Archbishop of Canterbury and representatives of 120 parishes across London at a series of events on June 1 to launch the Greater London Presence and Engagement Network (PEN).
The Church of England's PEN programme will value and strengthen the major contribution made by parish churches to a strong civil society in all the multi-religious neighbourhoods of London and across the nation.
A seminar brought together theologians and parish leadership to consider the issues raised by Christian witness in diverse neighbourhoods, while the Eucharist illustrated the commitment of the C of E to London's neighbourhoods.
A marketplace provided an insight into resources available to support and deepen Christian engagement.
