Bishop's Lent Appeal makes a world of difference
Parishes, schools and individuals have raised a record amount for the Bishop’s Lent Appeal this year – over £31,000 and still counting. This wonderful achievement will make a Christian difference to the lives of many people enslaved by child trafficking, poverty and disease in India and Kenya.
The Bishop of Chelmsford, Rt Revd John Gladwin, has said: “The response to the 2007 Lent Appeal has been magnificent – thank you! I know, from personal experience in the developing world, what encouragement and hope this support will give to vital projects and needy people.”
The proceeds will be divided between four projects:
- The Christian Mission Hospital in Madurai, India.
- Sanlaap, which helps to release children from the sex trade in Calcutta.
- The Centre for Urban Mission in Kibera, Nairobi.
- Work with street children in the Anglican dioceses of Kenya.
Please continue to pray for all those working to bring relief and hope to those in need. The theme of the 2008 appeal will be ‘International Year of the Planet Earth’.
