A MONK has marked his sabbatical, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Franciscans arriving in Papua New Guinea, by calling in at Messing in north Essex to be the guest of Revd Dr Chris Garland, right, the Archbishop of Papua New Guinea's representative in the UK. Brother Nathanael Gari, from Mambututu, was en route to Assisi, birthplace of St Francis, to study ways of bridging the gap in relations between young and older Christians, a problem area for churches in Papua New Guinea.
