Church buildings
Besides being lively places of worship, church buildings provide local communities with facilities that they use for many different purposes.
Churches open their buildings for use as drop-in centres for counselling and support, advice bureaux, fair-trade shops, after school clubs, meeting and conference rooms and exhibition and concert halls. They may also be linked to other community resources such as health centres and schools.

St Luke’s church in Cranham is a popular venue for school concerts and conferences. St Luke’s has strong links with local business, NHS groups, schools and charities.

St Clement’s church in Thurrock is combined with a health and community centre and day nursery. St Clements health and community centre is a partnership between the church, the local primary care trust, the day nursery, and Thurrock council.
The Friends of Essex Churches Trust helps to preserve the existing fabric of places of Christian worship in Essex and East London for future generations.
