C of E Olympic tsar licensed at St Paul's

Revd Duncan GreenThe Revd Canon Duncan Green was licensed yesterday at St Paul’s Cathedral by the Bishop of Chelmsford and the Bishop of London as the Church of England’s Olympic Co-ordinator for the 2012 London Games.

The appointment was initiated by Bishop Stephen Oliver of the Stepney Area (London Diocese) and Bishop David Hawkins of the Barking Area (Chelmsford Diocese). Together they have responsibility for the Church of England parishes in the four Olympic boroughs.

Duncan’s role is to work on behalf of the Church of England with the ‘More than Gold’ structure and with LOCOG and the LDA. The aim is to help mobilise the churches of London and the nation to serve and witness to the Olympic movement in producing the best possible games and ensuring a positive legacy for East London.
