Church magazines scoop awards from Essex Life
The winning St Osyth News team: Rosemary Raberts, editor; Barbara King, reserve editor; Mark Roberts, proofreader
Two church magazines have won Essex Life Community Magazine Awards. The competition, run by the Rural Community Council of Essex in conjunction with Chelmsford Diocese, was sponsored by Essex Life. There were 90 entries with the majority (nearly 70) in the monthly category. The judges were Julian Reed, editor of Essex Life, and John Gordon, editor of Newport News.
The monthly category was won by St Osyth News, a church magazine, and the less-than-monthly category by the quarterly Theydon Bois Village News. Highly-commended awards were made to Wivenhoe, for another church magazine, together with Hatfield Heath and Finchingfield & Cornish Hall End.
The awards ceremony was hosted by Essex Life at Le Talbooth in Dedham.
