CUF campaign gets off to encouraging start

THE Chelmsford campaign to raise £500,000 for the Church Urban Fund is gathering pace.

CUF has given £2.5million to projects challenging deprivation in Chelmsford diocese over the last 20 years.

For every pound it donates to projects, CUF attracts an average of £8 from external sources. Chelmsford Diocese is raising funds to sustain CUF's vital investment in church communities.

Many receptions with talks about the work of CUF have already been fixed.

 - April 15 Supper in St Cedd's Hall, Chelmsford Cathedral (8pm).
 - April 20 New Hall, Harlow (5- 6.30pm)
 - May 7 St Mark's College, Audley End CB11 4JD (7.30pm).
 - May 29 St Stephen's Church Centre, Albert Road / Lower Queen's Road, Buckhurst Hill, IG9 6EH (7.30pm)
-  May 30 Witham (tbc, 7.30pm)
-  June 19 St Leonard's church, Southminster (7.45pm)
-  June 20 Fund raising reception, House of Lords, London (7.30pm)
-  June 30 Panfield Hall, Braintree (5pm)
-  July 2 Brooms Farm, Upwick Green, Albury, Ware SG11 2GX (7.30pm

On the afternoon of July 12 there will be an opportunity to take part in guided walks in the Saffron Walden area in aid of CUF.  The walks will finish with a service in St Mary's Church, Newport.  For invitations to these events and to obtain further details email cuf@chelmsford.anglican.org.

A special service will be held in Chelmsford cathedral on October 1 (7.30pm) when the
preacher will be the Bishop of Chelmsford.

CUF Sunday will be celebrated on June 1.
