Chelmsford Holding Cross Our Diocesan Synod endorsed Transforming Presence in November 2011 as a vision for the future. One of the elements within this vision is the call for us to ‘inhabit the world distinctively’. I suggested ideas about helping people to pray, and about a simple Diocesan Rule of Life. Canon Edward Carter, our Canon Theologian, came up with the idea of expressing a Rule of Life through a Holding Cross. I am delighted to commend the Chelmsford Holding Cross as a significant new opportunity for us to respond to those ideas. Indeed the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby blessed and presented Chelmsford Holding Crosses at Chelmsford Cathedral in May 2014. Every parish has been allocated a sample bag, with three Chelmsford Holding Crosses, a note from me, an Information Sheet and an Order Form. You will find links to these below. Please think carefully about how you might use this new resource in your parish. The story of how the Chelmsford Holding Crosses have been designed and made is a fascinating one. You will find links below to a series of specially made videos below about the Holding Cross and what it means. I believe these Crosses will encourage us over the coming months and years to continue inhabiting the world distinctively as followers of Jesus Christ.
