Emma's award assists her students

A CHURCH youth worker has won a £1,000 award for her leadership skills which will be spent on the youngsters she helps.

Emma Jarratt, of Braintree, has received the Jack Petchey Achievement Awards' Outstanding Leadership prize for her three years of work at Helena Romanes School in Dunmow.

The Foundation gives leadership awards to adults who have shown an outstanding ability
to encourage and motivate young people aged from 11-25.

Emma said: "The project is now coming to an end on completion of three years' funding
and it is great to be finishing on a high note. But the work at Helena Romanes will continue
with a Youth Alpha course in the summer."

Mum-to-be Emma has run religious classes, assemblies and clubs at the Dunmow School for the FDS Triangle Trust.

As part of her award, a cheque for £1,000 will go to a school project of her choice. Head of vocational studies, Christine Horton said "Emma has been a great role model. She is a good person with good
values.

"She has given the children a chance to talk about their problems and has been a shoulder for them to lean on."
