Faith in new developments

WITH up to 500,000 new homes planned for the next 10 to 15 years, the East of England region is set to experience rapid growth.

And the implications for faith groups could be far-reaching. The Bishop of Bradwell, Rt Revd Laurie Green, will address the key issues at a major conference in March.

Called 'Faith in New Developments', this free conference, which will be co-hosted by East of England Faiths Council and Inspire East, the regional centre of excellence for sustainable communities in the East of England, is aimed at planners and developers, community cohesion officers, representatives of local strategic partnerships and the staff of local delivery vehicles as well as faith groups and leaders.

It will include the launch of new research and evidence for developing planning policy, discussions on
what faiths contribute and what practical support they need, and a consideration of different models for planning that optimise the potential of faiths to create cohesive and thriving new communities.

This conference will take place on March 3 at Essex Records Office, Chelmsford, from 9.15am to 2.15pm.
