Fancy changing your world?

HAVE you ever wondered how you can be involved in changing your world for the future?

The University of Essex Anglican Chaplaincy aims to do so by working with students and staff and readers are invited to join in the venture.

The chaplaincy is a place of immensely rich talents. There are people from all continents of the world
exploring ideas, hopes and dreams on the campus with many trying to find a new direction in life.

One mature student said: "I have come to the chaplaincy because I am embarking on a new road in life with this university course and I want God to be in it somehow".

Genuine interest in the Christian faith and spirituality is never far away. The chaplaincy provides space for healing and safe questioning for everyone at the university. Part of having healing space also means the provision of professional counselling within the chaplaincy for people in need.

Exciting projects are always on the horizon including a ‘Spirituality in Art' display, chocolate giveaways, soft rock band, soaking prayer and even head and shoulder massage in an
effort to provide ways of making known the presence of Jesus.

Revd Thomas Yap, Anglican Chaplain to the university, said: "We are always on the lookout for ways to make our Lord Jesus known to people who may otherwise be switched off to Christianity as they know it.

"To this end, the chaplaincy works with a very practical ecumenical focus. It has strong links with 12
churches already and continues to welcome local church community involvement.

"It was fantastic to see members from different churches working together in our Christmas project last year - it's a little bit like heaven!

"Please join in together with us whether in prayer, finance or in person. We would love to hear from
you."
