Raising funds for major capital projects

Martin is happy to work with parishes planning major capital projects. Below are some thoughts and downloads that may prove helpful

Sources of Funding for the repair of Churches

Click here for a fourteen-page document listing statutory bodies, church trusts, landfill companies and charitable trusts that have a record of supporting the maintenance and repair of church buildings in the Chelmsford diocese.

Some of these funders may also be prepared to fund new projects in church buildings

Funder Finder

Bradwell Area Teamholds a license for the FunderFinder database of charitable trusts. It can be searched in Martin's office.

This database helps identify the charitable trust most likely to fund your particular project.

This solves the problem of finding the ones most likely to give money out of the thousands available, and identifying the ones which give the size of grant that you are looking for.

A lot of time and effort can be wasted applying to trusts which were never likely to make a grant.

While the database cannot guarantee that the charitable trusts it identifies will make a grant, it can help target those most likely to do so.

Phone or email Martin to arrange a mutually convenient date to conduct your search. Martin will be happy to show you how to do it and to give advice on the best way to make your application

The Charitable Status of Parishes

Many funders like to know that they are giving to bodies with charitable status; but the vast majority of parishes do not have a charity number.

Employing a Professional Fund Raiser

When faced with raising a large sum of money in a short time, some parishes consider employing a professional fund-raiser.
The document that can be downloaded from here suggests a process to follow and gives advice on the statutory need for a contract
