TWO Essex priests, Revd Sue Cruse and Revd Patrick Sherring, were part of a group that visited Bulgaria
to see the delivery of items collected through the Harvest for the Hungry charity.

Ingatestone and Fryerning's team of Patrick and Sue visited orphanages, old people's homes, homes for those with mental disabilities, a soup kitchen, an education centre, churches and a number of homes.

More than 100 boxes of basic food items were generously given through their parish churches, the C of E junior school and a group from the Anglo European school. Old tables were also sent from the junior and infants' schools.

In total, Harvest for the Hungry sent more than 5,000 boxes, medical equipment and a fire-engine! The project was supported by more than 100 hundred schools, 50 business and 30 churches across Essex.

Next year will be the tenth year of the charity's work, which began in 1999 with 300 boxes. Items delivered over the intervening years include three ambulances.
