Lay Discipleship Adviser

The Reverend Karen BestLay Discipleship Adviser

I am an ordained stipendiary priest and alongside my role as Lay Discipleship Adviser, I am incumbent of Roxwell Parish Church. I was ordained in London Diocese in 1994, followed by some time working in Kent as incumbent for 8 years prior to coming to Chelmsford. I bring discipleship experience from a variety of churchmanship and contexts: urban, suburban, and currently in a rural location.

I am originally from West London and spent my formative years there, until studies took me to the West Midlands and then back home to London.

My hobbies focus around:  Fitness, Food, Fashion, Films and Flowers (British wild flowers).

I am married to Stephen and I have a 21 year old son living and working in Dartford . . . plus three dogs.

“Our hearts are restless, until they find their rest in the Divine.”

Love of God and Love of our neighbours is the desire of all Christians, but we often find in practice, that this is harder to do.

As Lay Discipleship Adviser, I am available to help and offer encouragement to individuals, parishes and deaneries, in the Bradwell area. I would love to share with you  creative ways of reaching out to people in our communities, but also looking at ways in which individually we keep an eye on the pulse, so that we are always closely attuned to Jesus.

The fact that God is present in each of our lives as his disciples is not remarkable, because God is present and available to all, both people and things.

Discipleship is:

“When we become aware of God, who is the Alpha and Omega, as the source and goal of everything and of all life, love, and power, then we become channels for these realities both in our own lives and for others.”
