Bishop's Lent Appeal 2009 - All God's Children
Why children? Why this year?
This year, 2009 marks the 30th anniversary of the first UN International Year of the Child and the 20th anniversary of the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, the first international agreement covering the full range of children’s rights.
Many people are using this anniversary to celebrate all that children give to society, and to highlight the issues, challenges and injustices currently faced by children around the world. We too are called to mark this anniversary, and Bishop John has chosen to support projects helping children in his Lent appeal this year.
Please join us:
- In celebrating all that children give to your church, school and local community - their energy, their enthusiasm, their curiosity.
- In giving generously, even in these difficult economic times, to help children who lack even the most basic things, like a loving home, a healthy environment, nutritious food and simple healthcare.
- In praying for a world where all children can achieve their full potential.
Why? Because every child is loved by God. Every child is a child of God. Read message from Bishop John.
