Ministerial Development Review

The Diocesan runs two review programmes for clergy.

Ministry Development Review (MDR)

This is a peer review scheme and takes place annually. It is being rolled out in autumn 2007 and will be available to all clergy by 2009.

Trained Consultants from among the clergy and the laity are available to help you to reflect on your mininstry and to review your developmental needs.

An Introductory Booklet is available from here.

You may also download the forms for the scheme

Enquiries about the scheme not answered by the introductory booklet may be directed to Canon David Parrott.

Episcopal Review

A vital accompaniment to MDR Scheme is the Episcopal Review. This focuses on that ministry of oversight that is proper to the bishop and is exercised alternately by the Area Bishop and Archdeacon. The ER will consider the outcome of previous MDRs and look at the person's ministry in relation to the ministry of the diocese: it is an expression of the sharing of that ministry with the bishop. This review is in addition to the annual Ministerial Development Review, and will take place every two years. The paperwork will be shortened to avoid unnecessary duplication with MDR and greater emphasis will be given to matters of spiritual, theological and role development.
