Mental illness support

One in six people will be struggling with some form of mental illness as you read.

Love Southend, which is delivering the Hope 08 initiative in the town, hopes to meet needs, both
spiritual or otherwise, in the name of Jesus.

In Southend, one of eight areas of concern is mental health. When people become
overwhelmed by mental illness, or witness a loved-one experiencing problems, churches are places
where hope is offered.

‘Hope For The Distressed' is the working title of a Mental Health Awareness training day on May 17
designed to equip churches to help. Hosted by St. Andrew's Westcliff and led by Revd Stuart Kimber, who has considerable background in this field, it is an opportunity to learn more, network, and access resources.

In conjunction with InterAct (Chelmsford) and the ‘Mind & Spirit' initiative, the day will explore mental illness, biblical perspectives and making churches into communities of support and hope.
