A message from Bishop John - every child is a child of God

Bishop JohnJesus challenged the society he was living in by the way he treated children. They had very low status and our concept of ‘children’s rights’ would have seemed incomprehensible. Yet Jesus brought a child in front of the people he was teaching, and said that by accepting a child they were accepting him. He was elevating those with no power and no status and declaring it was a Christian’s role to serve them.

Much the same could be said of the children our appeal is helping this year – street children, orphans, those in some of the poorest communities on earth. Children we will never meet. These would be the children who would be brought in front of us, whom we would be called to help. We see economic gloom close to home, but these children have far less than even the poorest around us. Please give generously. They are all the children of God.
