Message from the Bishop of Chelmsford

Bishop John GladwinCaring for the earth presents a huge challenge for us all at this time, as we witness the effects of climate change, damage to the environment and misuse of the earth’s resources. All of us are called to take seriously our responsibility to care for God’s good creation, and to be partners in his loving re-creative work, cooperating in renewing the face of the earth. God gives us that vision of a new heaven and a new earth to inspire us for the present, and as a sign of hope for the future.

Let’s make 2008 the year when we ensure that we help those worst affected by climate change and environmental damage to develop sustainable farming projects, build strong, interdependent community structures and withstand the worst effects of flooding or drought. And let us never cease praying:

‘Lord, your will be done
on earth as in heaven.’
