Sabbatical

Martin is on sabbatical from March 24th until June 22nd 2008.

General enquiries, while he is away, should be made to Graham Hamborg, CME adviser on the Bradwell team.

Any post or emails that need urgent attention will be forwarded to Graham . Others will be filed for attention when Martin returns

It will not be possible to put dates in Martin's diary while he is on sabbatical. Please get in touch with him when he returns.

Martin Wood's ministry 

Martin's work covers three main areas 

  • coordinating Bishop Laurie's Area Team 
  • major capital projects - researching, managing and finding the money
  • stewardship and Christian Giving

This ministry is not in isolation but in collaboration with the other members of the area team

If you are not sure who, on the Area Team can help you, contact Martin and he will try to point you in the right direction

Christian Giving

Martin is developing a network of Parish Giving Officers
The next training morning will be in the autumn.

Martin can also help parishes by

  • visiting the PCC or other groups as they plan a Giving Programme
  • preaching on Giving or teaching in a small group
  • working with a parish team planning a TRIO programme
  • giving a TRIO presentation
  • providing resources

Projects

Is there a project that could further the mission of the Church in your parish?

Martin can work with you to

  • Get started
  • Put the necessary organisation in place
  • Raise the money
  • Manage the work
  • Celebrate success
  • Develop what has been achieved

Martin does not have all the answers, but he does have considerable experience in managing successful projects . . . and some failures too!

Martin came to this post, in September 2005, before that he was:

  • Team Rector of Elland (1991-2005) in the Diocese of Wakefield
  • Rural Dean of Brighouse and Elland (1997-2005)
  • Vicar of Rush Green (1981-1991) in the Diocese of Chelmsford
  • Curate in Charge of St. Luke, Leyton (1978-1981) 
  • Curate in the East Ham Team (1975-1978)
