Emergency prayers for Iraq
1st Sep 2014
Stephen Cottrell, the Bishop of Chelmsford, will lead prayers for the Iraq emergency at Chelmsford Cathedral on Wednesday, September 3.
The prayers will focus on the need for peace and stability in the Middle East.
Everyone will be welcome to attend but prayers for Iraq are encouraged whether or not it is possible to be present at the Cathedral.
Prayers will be said at 12 noon and 12.15 pm. The Bishop will preside at a Eucharist at 12.35 pm.
This event will coincide with a prayer vigil led by Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, at Lambeth Palace followed by a vigil outside Parliament.
The Church of England's dedicated website ‘Pray.Act.Give.' urges witness to three priorities - prayer, practical action and commitment to all who suffer and struggle in times of crisis.
