On earth as it is in heaven...
Bishop of Chelmsford's Lent Appeal
Join us this year in supporting projects in Bangladesh, Kenya and Uganda that show we care
for our world - for God's world - and the people in it. And pray with us that we will see God's
will done on earth as in heaven by Rt Revd John Gladwin, Bishop of Chelmsford
WHEN we pray for God's will to be done ‘on earth as in heaven', we have to be prepared for God's
response to be the challenge -‘great, you can help'!
Everywhere we turn at the moment we see news about climate change and the effect the human race is having on our planet. The way the rich, developed world works is having a devastating impact on our climate. The poorest people are the hardest hit. This cannot go on.
As Christians we hear the call to act, knowing God's love for all he has created, and knowing God's
sadness and anger at this injustice. So join us!This Lent we are coming together as a diocese to
give money to projects that support some of the world's poorest people in places that are already suffering the effects of climate change. We have produced resources to help churches pray, schools learn and all of us to act together.
Please look out for the deliberately minimal mailing we're sending to your church or school in time for Lent. We're trying to get our message across in the most environmentally-aware way we can.
So, instead of printing thousands of leaflets, we're using February's edition of The Month to tell everyone about the projects we're supporting.
And the remaining materials will be available to download from the diocesan website at www. chelmsford.anglican.org/lentappeal
You can also email Margaret Shaw, World Development Adviser to the Bishop of Chelmsford, at sh.ma@btinternet.com or telephone the diocesan office on 01245 294400.
Everyone can do something. We must take action. Let's make earth more like heaven.
