Passion unites churches
The Doddinghurst Passion Play performers defied the Palm Sunday afternoon weather to bring something new to the village.
The play was devised, written, acted and produced by members of the three Doddinghurst churches - the Anglicans of All Saints, Farmlands' Methodists and St Margaret's Roman Catholic.
Parish priest Revd Gill Frith said: "We worked together to present this new project for the whole village.
"We started by the local shops at the centre of the village, accompanied by a donkey kindly lent by the local Remus horse sanctuary and despite the poor weather we had a capacity crowd.
"Several stories were acted as we approached and entered the church, and then continued with Last
Supper, the trials of Jesus with Caiaphas and Pilate, the way to the cross and the Crucifixion.
"We had expert help with lighting, music and costume making from members of the congregations.
"This was very much an amateur production by local people for local people and we certainly hope to do another Passion Play next year."
