Process to appoint a new Bishop of Chelmsford
Following the resignation of John Gladwin as Bishop of Chelmsford at the end of August, the 'See of Chelmsford' is vacant. During the 'interregnum' (the period of the vacancy) the Acting Bishop of Chelmsford is The Rt Revd Dr Laurie Green, Bishop of Bradwell.
Consultations on the appointment of a new Bishop of Chelmsford are under way.
Anyone who wished to comment on the needs of the Diocese was welcome to join the Archbishops’ Secretary for Appointments and the Prime Minister’s Secretary for Appointments at a public meeting ion 9 September in the Chelmsford Cathedral Chapter House. Anyone wishing to comment on the needs of the Diocese, or the wider Church, or who wished to propose candidates, was also invited to write to the Archbishops’ Secretary for Appointments or to the Prime Minister’s Secretary for Appointments before 30 September.

The Crown Nominations Commission will meet on 9 December 2009 and 14/15 January 2009.
Anyone who wishes to comment on the appointment of a new Bishop of Chelmsford is welcome to make comments direct to Bishop Laurie or to any of the other people who have been elected to serve on the Crown Nominations Commission before 9 December.
