Sustainability

St Paul’s Church, Goodmayes, IlfordRevd Ben Rutt-Field and the church council at St Paul’s Church, Goodmayes, Ilford has worked with the Family Housing Association and the London Borough of Redbridge to create 14 warden-assisted flats and a new community centre. Some of the most vulnerable members of the community now have new homes. The facilities have been specially designed to cater for deaf and blind people.

Churches help to make communities sustainable. Their people know what economic, social and environmental challenges mean in everyday life. They value their neighbours whether economically active or not, support people who are disadvantaged to achieve their potential, and work in creative partnerships. They also safeguard the environment. This includes assessing the environmental impact of all activities and considering ways to minimise and mitigate any environmental damage.
