Thames Gateway Officer

The Reverend Steve WilliamsSteve Williams

I originally studied Economics followed by Business Administration and spent 20 years in industry.

After being ordained and serving a curacy I spent 7 years as vicar of a parish in a deprived area.

I took up the post of Thames Gateway Officer for the Bradwell Area in 2003.

Although my main focus is on the South Essex part of the Thames Gateway I am also involved in the Regeneration network that stretches across the diocese and the Eastern Region and includes specialists from other denominations. In addition I am involved with various county and local authorities, the two unitary authorities and many of the agencies that are promoting regeneration including the Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership.

Aims

In this work I am seeking to know what is happening in terms of the regeneration of the area in which we live and to make sure that the church has a voice in the decisions that are being made that effect our churches and our communities. I seek to support churches and Christian individuals who are grappling with the developments in these areas.

What I can do

Please get in touch if you feel that I can help you in any way.

I have a number of presentations that are suitable for meetings large and small, church groups or secular and am happy to facilitate discussions and study of any kind. I am willing to be part of, or advise, on discussions with your communities, secular agencies or other voluntary sector organizations on matters concerning community development.
