Thurrock starts search for Christmas Chorister
A competition has been launched to find the Thurrock Christmas Chorister of 2007. It is open to boys and girls aged 14 years or under. One nominee is sought from each of Thurrock’s 16 Anglican churches. The competition will be facilitated by Thurrock Arts in conjunction with Thurrock Gazette and Chelmsford Diocese.
Each nominee will perform a solo at a performance of “The 12 Days of Christmas” at the International Cruise Terminal Tilbury between 30 November 2007 and 9 December 2007. The live performances will be marked by two independent judges.
At the end of the shows’ run the Thurrock Gazette will award a first prize of £100 to the person with the highest score and he or she will be named “Thurrock Christmas Chorister of The Year 2007”. A further two young performers will be awarded runner-up prizes of £50 each.
Mary Ann Connolly, Thurrock Council’s Cultural Project Officer, has written to each church and has invited nominations to be emailed to her at maconnolly@thurrock.gov.uk Nominations must be received by 2 November.
