National Adviser pages

The Parish Resources website (www.parishresources.org.uk) has been revamped, with over 200 new pages of resources added to it, including :

With over 2,000 visitors to the site each month, lots of parishes are benefitting from the resources 

The Church Legacy website was also created by the national adviser and is devoted to helping Christians think about making their wills and keeping them up-to-date. The site also has a section helping churches to promote legacies in a sensitive way. Lots of practical advice and leaflets

The Money Revolution website helps you apply Christian principles to handling your money as well as spreadsheets, a PowerPoint presentation and a range of sermon notes and discussion guides for home study groups.

Stewardship and Christian Giving

In addition to the above, the following sites are worth a visit

Giving in Grace is a stewardship programme developed by the Diocese of Liverpool. The website has resources for the programme, many of which are useful as stand-alone resources (e.g. sermon material, liturgies, leaflets, etc.)

Capital Projects and Funding

Inspired! is English Heritage’s campaign to secure a sustainable future for England’s 14,500 listed places of worship. The Inspired! website has been redesigned and now brings together in one place – a one-stop shop for everything that English Heritage does to support places of worship:

The Institute of Fundraising  is the professional body that represents fundraisers through leadership, representation, standard setting and education, to deliver excellent fundraising. Their website includes much good advice plus links to sample forms such as Gift Aid

The Heritage Funding Directory is a comprehensive guide to sources of financial support (and more) for anyone seeking to undertake creative projects connected with the UK’s heritage.

The Church Urban Fund site has an excellent resourses section, including the Churches Community Value Toolkit which can be downloaded and help put monetary value on the things you are doing in the community. This can then be sited as one reason why a funding body might give your project a grant

The Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme is an interim grant scheme which returns, in grant aid, the  amount spent on VAT on eligible repairs to listed places of worship

For useful information about VAT exemption and reduction, go to these mind-numbing pages created by HM Revenue and Customs They also have a dedicated charities advice desk, where the advisers should be fully versed in the range of VAT reliefs available to charities, including churches.

Ten years of grantmaking has seen £10,251,526 distributed to fund 2,391 charitable projects throughout the county

Church Maintenance 

The Churchcare website is an invaluable resource for churchwardens and anyone who looks after church buildings. It aims to cover every aspect of the use and development of the building, its contents and churchyard. Also provide information on funding The website is constantly being updated and expanded.

Faith in Maintenance is a unique project that aims to provide training and support for the thousands of volunteers in England and Wales who help to maintain our historic places of worship

Building Conservation provides specialist information for the conservation and repair of historic buildings and their surroundings, including a directory of links to grant making bodies

The Churches Tourism Association exists to help churches develop the visitor welcome experience and you can find out more through a website packed with resources and ideas
