National Adviser pages
The Parish Resources website (www.parishresources.org.uk) has been revamped, with over 200 new pages of resources added to it, including :
-
A good practice guide on Parish Reserves (www.parishresources.org.uk/reserves.htm)
-
An extended range of Funding Guides. (www.parishresources.org.uk/funding.htm)
-
A revamped rural toolkit (www.parishresources.org.uk/rural.htm)
With over 2,000 visitors to the site each month, lots of parishes are benefitting from the resources
The Church Legacy website was also created by the national adviser and is devoted to helping Christians think about making their wills and keeping them up-to-date. The site also has a section helping churches to promote legacies in a sensitive way. Lots of practical advice and leaflets
The Money Revolution website helps you apply Christian principles to handling your money as well as spreadsheets, a PowerPoint presentation and a range of sermon notes and discussion guides for home study groups.
Stewardship and Christian Giving
The Diocese of Winchester stewardship pages have a wealth of resources for stewardship programmes
Giving in Grace is a stewardship programme developed by the Diocese of Liverpool. The website has resources for the programme, many of which are useful as stand-alone resources (e.g. sermon material, liturgies, leaflets, etc.)
The Christian Stewardship site modestly describes itself as "The UK’s leading online stewardship resource for local churches"! It certainly is pretty good.
Capital Projects and Funding

The Heritage Funding Directory is a comprehensive guide to sources of financial support (and more) for anyone seeking to undertake creative projects connected with the UK’s heritage.
The Church Urban Fund site has an excellent resourses section, including the Churches Community Value Toolkit which can be downloaded and help put monetary value on the things you are doing in the community. This can then be sited as one reason why a funding body might give your project a grant
The Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme is an interim grant scheme which returns, in grant aid, the amount spent on VAT on eligible repairs to listed places of worship (the preamble on the home page is out of date; the scheme returned the difference between 5% and 171/2% up until 2004; it now reimburses all VAT)
For useful information about VAT exemption and reduction, go to these mind-numbing pages created by HM Revenue and Customs They also have a dedicated charities advice desk, where the advisers should be fully versed in the range of VAT reliefs available to charities, including churches.
The helpline is on 0845 302 0203, and is open between 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
Essex Community Foundation, an independent charitable trust, is one of 63 community foundations across the UK which are playing a leading role in the development of local philanthropy and resources to sustain communities. Ten years of grantmaking has seen £10,251,526 distributed to fund 2,391 charitable projects throughout the county
