Chief Executive and Secretary of the Diocesan Synod and Bishop's Council Steven Webb Steven has responsibility for the formulation and implementation of policy, ensuring the effective and efficient co-ordination and monitoring of diocesan activities, staff management and overseeing diocesan finances.
Steven Webb's PA Sue Kent Sue provides general support, personnel records management and oversight of the reception staff

Mission and Ministry

Director for Mission and Ministry Canon Roger Matthews Roger leads the work of the central diocesan officers and co-ordinates the development of diocesan strategy for Mission through Ministry. He oversees the Clergy Leadership Programme and has responsibility for the diocese's overseas companion links and for liaising with the Lead Bishop Advisory Groups, the Church and World Committee and Issue Groups.
Lay Ministry Education Co-ordinator Revd Philip Ritchie Philip is responsible for the provision of adult education and training resources including the Course in Christian Studies, Lent and Eastertide Schools and Reader Training.
Diocesan Adviser for Mission and Parish Development Revd Charlie Kosla Charlie holds responsibility for enabling our response to the Mission Shaped Church report and the Fresh Expressions initiative. He works closely with Area Teams in encouraging mission, church planting initiatives and pioneering projects.
Continuing Ministerial Education Adviser for Bradwell
Revd Graham Hamborg Graham is the Adviser for the Bradwell Area and holds diocesan-wide responsibility for the initial training of Curates in their first four years of ministry.
Continuing Ministerial Education Adviser for Barking
Revd David Parrott David is the Adviser for the Barking Area and holds diocesan-wide responsibility for clergy CME and policy development.
Continuing Ministerial Education Adviser for Colchester (part-time)
Revd Dr Tim Bull Tim is the Adviser for the Colchester Area and holds diocesan-wide responsibility for Reader CME.
Colchester Area Team Sr Penny Horseman Penny is a member of the team who gives 20% of her time to support diocesan-wide evangelism initiatives; this includes leading the Lay Evangelist Training Course.
  Revd Brigid Main Brigid is a part-time team member who carries responsibility for the Pastoral Assistants Training Course.
Secretary to Roger Matthews and Charlie Kosla
Christine Reed Christine provides administrative support to the Mission and Ministry Team.
Administrator of the Course in Christian Studies (CCS) and the Reader Training Course Liz Watson Liz is responsible for the smooth running of both courses which includes handling the finances of CCS and administration of the Reader selection process. Liz also acts as secretary to Philip Ritchie.
CME Administrator Sue Denham Sue handles the CME Grant Scheme for Clergy and Readers and provides secretarial support to the CME Advisers.

The diocese benefits from the experience and advice of a range of mostly honorary Bishop's Advisers in areas such as Interfaith, Ecumenism, Environment, Rural Concerns and Healing & Deliverance. These advisers are not normally based at the Diocesan Office but their contact details are in the Diocesan Directory.

Communications

Communications Director Ralph Meloy Ralph has overall responsibility for all areas of communication both internal and external.
Communications Assistant Lorraine Cornelius Lorraine provides administrative support for all aspects of work undertaken by the Communications Office, with particular responsibility for the circulation of “The Month”.

Website Manager Matthew Dawkins Matthew administers all technical and design aspects of the Diocesan web site.

General Management

Synodical and Pastoral Secretary Eddie Carden Eddie has responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of Diocesan Synod and its many committees. He is secretary of the Diocesan Pastoral Committee. its Area sub-committees and the Diocesan Board of Patronage. He oversees elections to the Diocesan Synod, committees and Deanery Synods and deputises for Steven Webb.
DAC Secretary Sandra Turner Sandra deals with the administration of and provides support for the Diocesan Advisory Committee. As well as giving advice to parishes and others on the faculty procedure and related matters, she also supervises the programme of quinquennial inspections of church buildings.
Resources Centre Manager Jo Jones The Centre provides a wide range of books, videos, CDs and cassettes for loan and/or sale for all who are engaged in furthering the Kingdom in parishes and schools throughout the Diocese.
Print Unit Operator Darren Matthams The Print Unit produces, and assists with the design of, not only Diocesan Office publications and committee papers; but also around 120 parish magazines and publications for the Cathedral, Area Teams and many related Diocesan organisations.

Information Technology

Information Technology Officer Andrew Bucknell Andrew is responsible for all computer hardware and software in the Office and outstations.

Finance

Director of Finance Margaret Essery Margaret has overall responsibility for all aspects of Finance and IT and services the Finance, Budget and Investments committees. She also handles the LOB accounts, DBF and parish trusts, the financial support of those training for ordination and all aspects of financial advice to parishes.
Finance Officer Julie Mellish Julie is responsible for statutory and management accounts, controls cash flow and oversees day-to-day accounting.
Parish Finance Officer Terry Gray Terry is responsible for the Parish Share, Treasurer training and support, advising parishes on financial matters and coordinating stewardship.
Stipends Officer Jill Sheppard Jill is responsible for all instructions for diocesan clergy stipends and also arranges the financial side of clergy removals, relocation and similar grants.
Finance Assistant Debbie Humphreys Debbie is responsible for staff payroll and assists Julie Mellish with accounts.

Property Services

Director of Property Richard Smith Richard is Property Manager and head of department, responsible for periodic surveys, reports, specifications, building insurance claims and administration, trees adviser.

Kevin is also Building Surveyor, responsible for drawing plans, preparing specifications, contracts, and manages new builds.
Building Officer Terry Beeson Terry is responsible for supervising periodic works, repairs, boiler servicing and administration, and also assists with facilities management.
Finance Officer Jean Cairns Jean is responsible for processing financial information, council tax, water rates, invoices, the CIS scheme, buildings insurance and data recording.
Repairs Helpline Co-ordinator Sheila Downs Sheila is responsible for taking general calls and calls from clergy requesting a repair to their house, organising contractors and administering the car fleet.
Property/Glebe Officer Anna Franklin Anna is responsible for administering the Houses and Investments sub-committees, glebe, deeds, records, administration, research and data retrieval.
Lettings Officer Melody Hackett Melody is responsible for the letting of, and the administration in connection with, vacant clergy houses.
Senior Building Officer Trevor Martin Trevor is responsible for managing works and supervising new builds and major schemes.
Building Surveyor Sid Rudd Sid is responsible for drawing plans, preparing specifications, and managing contracts for new kitchens, bathrooms, major refurbishment schemes and window replacement.
