WHAT IS CHELMSFORD DIOCESAN YOUTH SYNOD?
Youth Synod is a youth council for Chelmsford Diocese that seeks to give young people (aged 11-18) a chance to discuss and engage with issues that Diocesan Synod (adult council of the Church of England in Essex and East London) is exploring and to feed their thoughts into the wider discussion at Diocesan Synod.
Upcoming Meeting Dates
The meeting scheduled for 13 November has been postponed until the new year.
HOW OFTEN DOES IT MEET?
Youth Synod meets 3 times a year. 2 meetings will take place virtually on a midweek evening and 1 meeting will be a whole day gathered event including food.
HOW DO I JOIN?
To join Youth Synod you just need to complete the application form. Your minister or youth worker will be asked to provide a short reference for you (this is mostly so they know you’re getting involved with this exciting project!)
WILL I REALLY BE LISTENED TO?
Yes! At the end of each meeting we will summarise what’s been said and our elected youth synod representative will take your comments to Diocesan Synod and make sure they’re included as part of the discussion. We also hope in the long term that Youth Synod will contribute topics for Diocesan Synod to discuss.
WHO ORGANISES CDYS?
Youth Synod is organised by the Diocesan Mustard Seed Team (children, youth and families advisers) and a group of volunteers from across the diocese, led by Dot Salmon.
