Evelyn Underhill was a remarkable woman - a theologian and writer on the nature of prayer and the Christian life, a retreat conductor and spiritual director. A woman ‘of her time’ but in so many ways ahead of her time, Evelyn Underhill speaks into our current context with both challenge and encouragement.
Our own Diocesan Retreat House at Pleshey was a ‘thin place’ for Underhill and it continues to be so for many people today. It is here that her lost prayerbook was discovered and to here that many come to research her life and writings.
Celebration of Evelyn Underhill
