Alzheimer’s Society in Essex is inviting church group across the county to unite with us against dementia this Dementia Action Week (21st to 27th May 2018). On Thursday 24th May, Alzheimer’s Society Singing for the Brain choirs, volunteers and staff will be having a Singing for the Brain concert at Chelmsford Cathedral. We are inviting you to participate with us in a dementia friendly event to show that we all want to make everyday life better for people affected by dementia. In the UK, one person develops dementia every three minutes, yet too many people feel excluded and face the disease alone. That is why in Dementia Action Week, we will be asking people to unite and take actions, big and small, to make a difference to the everyday lives of people with dementia. At Chelmsford Cathedral on 24th May at 1.30 p.m. our Essex Singing for the Brain choir would like your choir to unite with us, be part of our audience, and sing with us. Entrance is free. The concert is scheduled to finish around 2.45 p.m. Refreshment will be available after the concert. In addition, we are planning to incorporate a short Dementia Friends session, where people will learn a little more about what it is like to live with dementia and turn that understanding into action. We hope that everyone will leave the Cathedral having become a Dementia Friend, joining the 2.3 million Dementia Friends that are already supporting people to live well with dementia. If you would like any more information about the event or would like to let us know how many people from your choir would like to join us, please ring 01245 260911.
