Our Celebration of Lay Ministry Day iis a day to celebrate the many forms of licensed, authorised and commissioned ministries, praying for each other and asking for God’s blessing. We will also be praying for those authorised ministers who have completed their training, and licensing new LLMs.
We are delighted to welcome Rev Dr Malcolm Guite who will be lecturing on 'Poetry, Preaching and Prayer: learning from Shakespeare and George Herbert' and preaching at the morning service. Revd Guite, is a performance poet, and chaplain. others may know him from his weekly Poet's Corner column for the Church Times.
All events will take place in the Cathedral and the pattern of the day will be as follows:
9.30am – 10.00am Reader/LLM AGM
10.30am-12.00pm Presentation by Rev Dr Malcolm Guite
12.30pm – 1.15pm The service of celebration and commissioning of lay ministries. Malcolm Guite will preach.
1.15pm – 2.30pm Lunch break – please bring your own lunch, there will be drinks available
2.30pm – 3.30pm The service of re-affirmation of vows, licensing of new LLMs and welcome to those who have joined this diocese.
You are very welcome to join us for the whole day. although we appreciate that may not be convenient so plan to send out separate tickets for the morning and afternoon services.
