Celebrating Lay Ministry
3rd Oct 2019
Our Celebration of Lay Ministry Day on Saturday 12 October is when the diocese celebrates all forms of lay ministry.
The celebration is held at Chelmsford Cathedral and is when all those who have completed their training are licensed and commissioned.
Our new Licensed Lay Ministers, Geoff Aanonson (The benefice of Bentley Common St Paul & Kelvedon Hatch & Navestock), Pennie Ley (Becontree, St Thomas) and Bernard Eaton (Walthamstow, St Peter in the Forest) will be licensed by the Bishop of Chelmsford.
The day will also celebrate and commission our new Pastoral Assistants, Evangelism Enablers, Spiritual Companions, Lay Pioneers, Authorised Local Preachers, Lay Funeral Ministers and Newham Evangelists.
Revd Dr Elizabeth Jordan, Lay Development Adviser said:
This day brings together those starting out in authorised and licensed ministry and those who have given faithful service for many years. We will be celebrating with some Readers who were licensed more than 40 years ago and praising God for Women Readers, first licensed 50 years ago. We are also thrilled that so many people have heard God’s call to begin a new chapter in their lives.”
