Church lifts veil on church weddings

11th Sep 2014

Couples thinking of tying the knot will have a chance to discuss their wishes informally with a vicar at the Heart Essex Wedding Show on Saturday and Sunday, September 13-14, 2014.

And ahead of the show the church has made a short video to give couples an idea of what to expect when they approach a vicar about setting a date.

“We know that many couples want to get married in church,” said Sarah Newman communications executive with Chelmsford Diocese. "But very often they fear being cross-examined by the vicar!”

“So we made this video to show what the process of getting married in church was like for Ricky and Claire Ball.”

The video shows them in conversation with Corinne Brixton, the vicar who married them at St John’s Church in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.

“We want to help couples see what happens when they approach a vicar they don’t know.”

The Heart Essex Wedding Show at the Brentwood Centre, Doddinghurst Road CM15 9NN, will be open from 10 am – 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday, September 13-14, 2014. The vicars will be on stand 29.
